As each day passes, it seems we may never lay eyes on The Winds of Winter, let alone A Dream of Spring. However, Martin’s 2015 re-published series of stories aregloriousway to relive the mythical magic of Westeros. Set nearly 100 years before A Song of Ice and Fire, the novellas follow heroic hedge knight, Dunk and his 11-year-old squire Egg, future King of the Seven Kingdoms.

Throughout the three stories, the unlikely pair encounter familiar friends, frightful foes, and raise swords in a combat or two. Martin’s incredible imagination and attention to detail, accompanied by Gary Gianni’s intricate illustrations make A Knight of the Seven Kingdomsworthy of a place in Old Town’s Citadel.
